Yep, I know CD players are truely a dated object nowadays but this is such a cool design that it’s worth mention. Besides this is not just your everyday CD player, in fact it’s not even called a CD player. Behold the new “DMP player”!, it not only plays your CD’s but also mp3’s which brings it bang up to date eh!

The boys at Transrotor have created the Transrotor Artus, the worlds most expensive turntable. Modestly priced at $150,000 (£79,500) it features stuff (sorry, haven’t brushed up on the ol’ Deutch), of which is fairly heavy stuff as the whole unit weighs in at 220kg!

Keymat do make really good LCD TV’s but who in the right mind encrusts a TV in diamonds to the tune of $130,000? This is right up there with diamond encrusted fridge freezers in the ‘why oh why’ stakes.
Still, it appears to appeal to certain markets. Following the Keymat Yalos range showing at the IFA show in Berlin, apparently interest has been shown by American and Saudi buyers (no suprise there then).

A British Supermarket (undisclosed at the moment but I suspect Jamie Oliver may well be advertising them soon) has announced the introduction of square Water Melons later this year. The Brazilian growers place the fledgling fruit into clear boxes which restrict and shape the final ripe fruit. According to the (slightly biased) spokesman for the store says the square shape makes the fruit ‘easier to store and eat’. I think they will be a big hit until the novelty wears off and we all return to wondering how they get pears into bottles.

The basic ant farm kit retails at £13.95 and the must have illuminations are a further £11.95, it should be noted that the ants are not included but for a mere £5.00 you can get ’specially bred’ ants from AntWorks (alternatively you can root around in the garden for a few choice specimens).
