Messr Jobs announced the new iPod yesterday and boy do we want one (or two!). It’s the replacement to the iPod mini (of which has disappeared from the Apple website) and again is available in 2G and 4G models but now with flash memory instead of the HDD. They also feature a colour screen and 90mm x 40mm x 6.9mm are the over all dimensions…TINY! Currently retailing from an Apple Store near you, 2G £139 and 4G £179 is the dent to the pocket, that should leave enough room for your new iPod!

I got to handle one out in the States and I reckoned it fell right into that “highly loseable” category along with everything else that I own that weights less than a kilo. It really is incredibly small and light, lovely screen too. Will they offer a surgically implanted wrist strap as an optional accessory?

I foresee a range of ‘clap and it’ll whistle’ gadgetry arising shortly. I look forward to the Apple silloette advert showing some hip dudes clapping trying to find the bloody thing!
