World Cup fever hits again with the competition starting on the 9th June, Paul Smith has blessed us with his take on the team supporters t-shirts and other assorted items available from his many stores and online. My favourite item has to be the Footballers Haircuts book, what library could be complete without such a prestidious volume?

The new Sony W850 Walkman Slider looks pretty damn cool, has a 1GB memory stick and is available in black or white from Q3 this year. Hopefully a reasonable combination of mobile phone and mp3 player. Just a matter of waiting now for Motorola and Apple to finally get together and design a decent iTunes/iPod type communications device.

I found these at K J Global, they may look like a reject from some sci-fi movie but what they do is really cool. They are multimedia glasses that supply an image equivalent of a 30″ screen viewed from 2m away and feature built in stereo earphones. The garb on the website says that you can wear them on public transport but I’m not sure about this unless they are like the visors in The Matrix and feed kung-fu moves directly to your brain so as to allow you to fight off the muggers (other than that just make sure you are sat next to someone wearing white earphones in an iVictim kinda way). The glasses hook up to your DVD player, VCR (remember them?), games console and anything else with a DV connection.

OK, stop it right now. It’s not big and it’s definately not clever. This is the wearable sleeping bag, the Selkbag. I see a possible positive to it as in it wouldn’t be quite as restrictive as a normal sleeping bag for SLEEPING IN. But why oh why would you choose to get up and wander around looking like the michelin man, scaring small children and looking a complete Twot (word created by my wife in an inability to swear properly, bless).
Available from Musuc if you really want one
This item is so stupid it’s going to have to go in an all new category, welcome to Don’t Do It!

Odd how it has taken the American sitcom ‘Friends‘ to bring the lounge chair into popular culture for men. Most modern apartments will now feature a lounge reclining chair facing the TV with a coffee table either side for storage of beer/remote controls/games controller etc. Well this was the original, Charles Eames‘ Lounge Chair spawned them all and is still (deservedly) in production. Originally designed in 1956 it’s a testament to how good designs last.

All this Apple glory can be yours for the mere snip of £249.00

Just the thing to scare the bejesus out the kids in the pool! A 2′ long remote control shark from Hammacher Schlemmer. The great thing is the remote control unit, it works from 40 feet away but is also submersible so you can don the snorkel and chase the unsuspecting souls with the shark. Bring on the summer holidays and the lobster red folks with inflatables!

Currently retailing at $99, methinks this to be a worthy addition to the pool toys….I wonder if it would fit in my mates aquarium?

In a flashback to the Eighties and hours of frustration, Rubik’s have a brand new cube! This time it features Metal, wood, textile, rubber, plastic and stone instead of the coloured tiles. What this does is make the hours of frustration accessible to the visually impaired which is only fair in this world of equal opportunities. The only question now is can you still peel off the tiles when you absolutely must cheat?

OMG! Now available in the Netherlands are these two stamps that feature lenticular technology. This is a system of overlapping twelve layers of film stills and playing them back. The stamps feature two (Dutch) skating legends to tie in with the winter olympics.
